Polaroid to roll out Android camera at Consumer Electronics Show

PanARMENIAN.Net - Polaroid has confirmed plans to unveil an Android-powered camera with an interchangeable lens at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next month, Digital Spy said.

Company CEO Scott Hardy confirmed the rumours to Imaging Resource and promised to reveal full details of the snapper at the trade show.

"There will be an Android powered, interchangeable lens camera introduced by Polaroid at CES 2013," Hardy said in a statement. "Additional information and specs will be released during the show."

News of a new Android camera from Polaroid broke earlier this week on several websites, with reports indicating the device will be a compact snapper dubbed the Polaroid IM1836.

Rumoured specs include an 18.1-megapixel sensor and a 3.5-inch touchscreen running the Android 4.0 operating system.

An image of the camera, which is said to be manufactured by Sakar, later surfaced on a Russian social media network (via Photo Rumours).

Polaroid unveiled the Android-powered SC1630 at CES 2012, a product which did not make it to market.
