Sony announces waterproof Xperia Tablet ZJanuary 21, 2013 - 17:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Japanese gadget maker Sony has announced the waterproof Xperia Tablet Z. Appearing at Sony's Japanese website, the Tablet Z is Sony's thinnest tablet yet, measuring just 6.9mm thin and weighing 495g. Like its smartphone equivalent, it's also resilient against water and dust, The Inquirer reports. Sony said that the Tablet Z has a 10.1in "WUXGA Reality Display, which enables the representation of high-brightness and high-definition video" along with its Bravia technology for "vivid image content representation". Running Google's Android 4.1 Jelly Bean mobile operating system, the Tablet Z has a quad-core 1.5GHz processor and supports 4G wireless internet connections as well as NFC technology. It's also equipped with an 8.1MP camera with a CMOS sensor for recognizing when the user is in the dark. The tablet comes equipped with Sony's NFC content sharing feature One Touch, which enables wireless streaming of photos and music between devices without accessing complicated menus by simply touching them together. Sony said that the tablet will come in black and white colored models. However, so far the firm has announced only vague release timing for the tablet in Japan, saying that it should arrive there "this Spring".
