Armenian, Russian defense ministers discuss cooperation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu to discuss military and technical cooperation.

“We are happy that Minister Shoigu’s official visit to Armenia is timed to the celebrations of 21st anniversary of Armenian army formation. It’s very symbolic for the development of Armenian-Russian relations,” Minister Ohanyan said, adding that international and regional issues were discussed during the negations.

Minister Shoigu, in turn, noted that Armenian-Russian cooperation program will be confirmed in February.

The ministers earlier met twice in 2012, with this particular meeting symbolic in the context of signing a military agreement with Armenia.

Minister Shoigu will further visit 102 Gyumri-based Russian military base.
