Bond theme singer Shirley Bassey to perform at Oscars![]() February 9, 2013 - 15:41 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Shirley Bassey will perform at this year's Academy Awards for the first time in her long career, joining a diva-packed lineup, TheWrap said. In addition to Dame Shirley, Oscars producers have booked Barbra Streisand, Adele and Norah Jones for the telecast, adding sizzle and star power to the evening's musical offerings. Bassey, who is best known for her scorching James Bond theme songs, will presumably participate in the Academy's planned tribute to 007. The superspy franchise is celebrating 50 years on the big screen. Bassey sang three Bond songs -- "Goldfinger," "Moonraker" and "Diamonds are Forever." Amazingly none of these songs were nominated for Oscars, but "Skyfall," the Adele sung theme song to last year's Bond film, is up for the Best Original Song award and is widely expected to win. "We are thrilled to welcome the legendary Dame Shirley Bassey to our Oscar show," producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement. "Her association with film music is world renowned and we are proud that she will be making her first Oscar appearance on our telecast. The Oscars will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane and will air on Feb. 24 on ABC. Partner news Oldman made his directorial debut in 1997 with the critically-acclaimed family drama "Nil by Mouth."
