Armenia loses to Russia in Wrestling World Cup round 1

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team lost to Russia in the first round of Tehran-hosted World Cup.

Aleksan Mikayelyan (60 kg) beat Rustam Khuchbarov, with Sargis Tonoyan (96 kg) winning Musa Evolev.

The rest of Armenian wrestlers suffered defeats by their Russian contenders. Harutyun Hovhannisyan (55 kg) lost to Stepan Mayranyan, Tigran Torosyan (66 kg) suffered a defeat by Adam Kurak, Varsham Boranyan (74 kg) –by Aleksander Chekhirkin, Hrach Hovhannisyan (84 kg) – by Azamat Bikbaev and Vachik Yeghiazaryan (120 kg) – by Alikhan Ayubov.

As a result, Russian wrestlers scored 5:2 win against Armenians.

Armenia will face off against Bulgaria next.
