Activists foil European observers’ press conference in YerevanFebruary 19, 2013 - 17:29 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - European observers called a press conference in Yerevan on Feb 19, with preliminary assessments of Feb 18 presidential elections to be presented. While the participants were going to present the data, young activists Vahagn Minasyan, Karen Harutyunyan and Lena Nazaryan entered the hall. Lena Nazaryan slammed the observers’ statements, saying they legitimize the rigged polls. The participants went out of the hall, with the press conference delayed for 15 minutes. In conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, the activists urged every one to back their position. “We tried to express our stance through peaceful civil disobedience. We repeatedly staged other protest actions, demanding the polls were not announced legitimate. However, our calls were ignored. Let the observers legitimize elections in their own countries,” Karen Harutyunyan said.
