Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang joins Lenovo

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang has joined Lenovo in an advisory capacity, Digital Spy said.

The tech entrepreneur, who left the web giant in January last year, will attend board meetings but will not have voting rights.

"I am honoured to join Lenovo as a board observer at an exciting time in its growth. I look forward to leveraging my past experience as a technology entrepreneur and innovator to provide advice as Lenovo looks at new areas of growth," said Yang.

"I believe that Lenovo's strong leadership team, coupled with their innovative strategy, positions them well for continued success as a global leader in technology."

Yang, who founded Yahoo with David Filo in 1995, famously rejected a $44.6 billion (£29.1 billion) takeover offer from Microsoft in February 2008, erroneously believing that the company would be worth more in the ensuing years.

Lenovo overtook HP as the world's biggest supplier of personal computers last year, but has been focusing on the mobile market of late due to the slow decline of the home computing sector.
