187kg of Afghan heroin seized in Russia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) officers seized 187 kilograms (412 lbs) of heroin with an estimated wholesale black market value of $180 million in the Moscow region, FSKN head Viktor Ivanov said on Monday, Feb 25, according to RIA Novosti.

The entire consignment of high-grade Afghan heroin was stashed inside black radishes, he said.

The shipment, which originated in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region, was initially sent to a Russian company based in Orenburg, Siberia, Ivanov said.

Four people were detained when the heroin consignment was seized at the Dolgoprudny market, north of Moscow, he said, but did not specify when the operation took place.
