PanARMENIAN.Net - Move over, Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Another popular Swedish-language film is getting English-language treatment, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Fox 2000 is developing a remake of Patrik, Age 1.5, a 2008 dramedy about a gay couple who adopt what they at first believe to be a 15-month-old baby named Patrik, only to have him turn out to be a homophobic 15-year-old. Allan Loeb (Here Comes the Boom, Just Go With It) is adapting the remake, which will undergo a slight title tweak and be called Patrick 1.5.

Laurence Mark, who produced I, Robot for Fox, is producing alongside Nigel Sinclair (End of Watch). David Blackman and Tobin Armbrust are exec producing.

Although gay parenting largely has been ignored in mainstream filmmaking, the 2010 box-office and critical hit The Kids Are All Right proved that audiences have an appetite for the subject matter. That $4 million film starring Julianne Moore and Annette Bening earned nearly $35 million worldwide.

Patrik, Age 1.5 premiered at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and was released by Regent in the U.S.

APA, which reps the original film's writer-director Ella Lemhagen, brought the project to Blackman and set writers Keith Merryman & David A. Newman to pen a draft.

Loeb worked with Fox on the sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. He has a number of projects set up around town including the Mark Wahlberg vehicle Avon Man at Fox and the indie The Only Living Boy in New York, with Marc Webb attached to direct.
