Raffi Hovannisian goes on hunger strike

PanARMENIAN.Net - Heritage party leader, former presidential hopeful Raffi Hovannisian goes on hunger strike.

Addressing his supporters at Yerevan’s Liberty Square, Mr. Hovannisian said it was not his best speech but promised ‘to nerve himself’.

“Our unity is our power. Today, our nation’s voice is like an ocean. Each victory starts with a seed. We sowed the seeds and now it’s time to reap the harvest,” he said.

“I am acting as the representative of the Armenian nation. If Serzh Sargsyan doesn’t agree to step down and acknowledge the victory of the Armenian people, if he and Catholicos of All Armenians desecrate the Bible with a false oath on April 9, they will do it over my dead body. So, unless Sargsyan announces his resignation, I will stay in Liberty Square and will not eat. This is not a hunger strike, this is a struggle against fraud and lies,” he said.
