Parties start submitting lists for Yerevan City Council polls

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian political parties have started submitting lists for Yerevan City Council elections, due May 5.

March 21 has been noted as the election deadline, with the winning party to nominate the mayor.

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Orinats Yerkir and Prosperous Armenia have so far announced a decision to run in the polls. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan will top RPA’s list, former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian and Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan to top the lists of Prosperous Armenia and Orinats Yerkir respectively.

As representatives of ARF Dashnakstutyun, Heritage and Armenian National Congress (ANC) bloc earlier noted, the opposition forces may run with a common list.

At the meeting, the parties focused on the prospects of bilateral relations, and cooperation in the framework of international organizations.
Dwelling on the hike in gas prices, Iskandaryan said the change also affected other countries importing Russian gas.
Armen Martirosyan noted that the price rise will further deteriorate the situation in the country, fostering emigration.
In this connection, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian left for Strasbourg to attend CoE foreign ministers meeting.
