Dropbox announces acquisition of Mailbox

PanARMENIAN.Net - Dropbox, the cloud storage synchronization firm, on Friday, March 15 announced that it has purchased Mailbox, a company that makes a hot new email app, Mashable reported.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Like many of you, when we discovered Mailbox we fell in love — it was simple, delightful, and beautifully engineered. Many have promised to help us with our overflowing inboxes, but the Mailbox team actually delivered," Dropbox wrote on its blog on Friday.

"After spending time with [CEO] Gentry [Underwood], Scott [Cannon], and the team, it became clear that their calling was the same as ours at Dropbox — to solve life’s hidden problems and reimagine the things we do every day. We all quickly realized that together we could save millions of people a lot of pain."

On its blog, Mailbox claims it has taken more than 1.3 million Mailbox reservations and is processing more than 60 million emails every day since the app went live on the App Store a month ago.
