NSC Secretary, EU official discuss Association Agreement talks![]() March 21, 2013 - 11:39 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan met with European Commission's Director for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, Gunnar Wiegand. NSC Secretary said that Association Agreement talks enter a final stage, hailing the effectiveness of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) negotiations. The two noted completion of Armenia-EU Association Agreement talks by November 2013 as a common goal. The progress of DCFTA negotiations was mutually hailed, with the next stage due in Yerevan. Mr Baghdasaryan and Mr Wiegand further stressed the importance of visa facilitation deal, signed in December 2012. Formation of the Association agenda to later replace European Neighborhood Policy’s action program was also discussed, with the work carried out by the Armenian side highly assessed, NSC press service reported. Partner news At the meeting, the parties focused on the prospects of bilateral relations, and cooperation in the framework of international organizations. Dwelling on the hike in gas prices, Iskandaryan said the change also affected other countries importing Russian gas. Armen Martirosyan noted that the price rise will further deteriorate the situation in the country, fostering emigration. In this connection, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian left for Strasbourg to attend CoE foreign ministers meeting. Partner news |
