Aronian beats Azeri opponent in Candidates Tournament round 6

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian beat Azeri contender Teimour Radjabov in the 6th round of 2013 World Chess Championship's Candidates Tournament.

Aronian, who was playing with the black pieces, successfully defended a king-side attack by Radjabov, who was eventually unable to withstand Aronian’s counter-attack on his king.

After the round 6, Aronian shares the 1st-2nd places with Norway’s Magnus Carlsen.

The Armenian grandmaster will be facing Russia’s Alexander Grischuk after the rest day of March 22.

The winner of the 14-rond tournament in London will challenge world champion Viswanathan Anand for the title.
