“Hanna” star Saoirse Ronan talks her role in “The Host”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Saoirse Ronan has discussed the challenges of playing two parts in one film, The Host, Digital Spy said.

The actress plays the character of Melanie, a young girl invaded by a Soul named Wanda, also played by Ronan.

She said to MTV: "It was challenging but it was great at the same time because I'm either playing one or I'm playing the other, or I'll switch between the two in one scene. So you'll map that out a bit whenever that happens."

The film takes place in an alternative future where the majority of the race has been taken over by aliens known as Souls. Melanie is one of the last humans and has to fight for her body when she is invaded by Wanda.

Ronan added: "I really liked it because for the majority of the shoot, I was playing Wanda, who's... she's a great character to play, but she's a perfect Soul and doesn't really feel any negative emotions.

"So I could go from playing the perfect being to someone who's a real fighter, who's really kinda gutsy, who has a mouth on her, and it was really nice to be able to do that."

Ronan's co-star Max Irons previously praised her for her on-set demeanor.

He said: "From the first moment I met her in London, I knew it was going to be easy.

"Some people are just easy to work with, and you watch her and you look at her face and think, 'What is she doing that's so special?'"

Irons went on to say: "You can't define [her charm], it's just there - it's all there, everything! She is always spot-on and perfectly informed."

The Host opens on March 29 in the US and the UK.
