Iran Foreign Ministry: Baku’s territorial claims show poor knowledge of history

PanARMENIAN.Net - Good relations with neighboring countries - Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iraq- is a priority on Iran’s foreign policy agenda, the country’s Senior Deputy Foreign Minister said.

At news conference in Yerevan, Ramin Mehmanparast commented on a remark by an Azeri MP, suggesting that Iranian province of East Azerbaijan is an originally Azerbaijani territory and has to be annexed to Azerbaijan.

“The countries that make such demands show their poor knowledge of history. We all have to be careful not to spark animosity,” the diplomat said.
