A&E greenlights Chloe Sevigny’s "Those Who Kill" drama

PanARMENIAN.Net - A&E has given the go-ahead to "Those Who Kill," a scripted drama that will star "Big Love" alum Chloe Sevigny and "Hitchcock" star James D'Arcy, TheWrap said.

"Those Who Kill," which has been given a 10-episode order, will star Sevigny as Catherine Jensen, a freshly minted and incredibly smart police detective who tracks down serial killers.

Struggling with the suspicion that her stepfather may be a serial killer and the disappearance of her brother when he was a teen, Jensen enlists forensic psychiatrist Thomas Schaffer (D'Arcy) to help provide insight into the minds of serial killers, Jensen also attempts to draw Schaffer into her personal investigation involving her family.

The drama, which is based on a Danish series and comes from Imagine Television and Fox21 and will premiere in 2014. Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo are executive producing for Imagine. Glen Morgan of "The X Files" and "Millennium" renown wrote the pilot and will serve as executive producer/showrunner. Joe Carnahan ("The Grey") directed the pilot. Miso Films' Peter Bose and Jonas Allen are also executive producing.

While serial killers seem to be the thing these days on television (see: "The Following," "Hannibal"), A&E Network and BIO Channel president and general manager Bob DeBitetto said that "Those Who Kill" will offer a different take on the budding mini-genre.

“’Those Who Kill’ is not a crime procedural about serial killers – it’s a deep serialized character portrait of two compelling yet damaged individuals coming together through the revelation of their dark past,” said DeBitetto. “We are thrilled to have such an incredible cast and crew signed on to this project and the result should be an absolutely riveting series.”

The series is the latest in A&E's effort to build its scripted roster, following such projects as "Longmire" and "Bates Motel."
