Iranian FM: Armenia-Iran Energy Relations Need Development

PanARMENIAN.Net - Being in Iran on an official call, Chief of the Armenian President's Administration, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission for Coordination of Armenian-Iranian Relations Artashes Tumanyan today met with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki. During the meeting in Teheran ways to strengthen bilateral relations, as well as some regional and international problems were discussed. Mottaki noted the need to expand bilateral relations between the two countries in economy and energy. «The joining of energy grids and the gas transportation project provide for enhancement of the cooperation level, while the project of transportation of gas through Armenia and Georgia to Ukraine may in addition become a development and progress factor in the region,» he added.



Artashes Tumanyan stated he was contented with the process of development of Armenia-Iran relations. «Armenia's relations with its neighbors, especially the IR of Iran rest upon strengthening friendship and development of economic cooperation,» he added. Mr. Tumanyan mentioned positive outcomes of the Armenia-Iran cooperation, hoping that the evolving project of gas transportation will promote progress and welfare in both countries.
