PSY’s "Gentleman" sets new YouTube record

PanARMENIAN.Net - Within three days after it was first posted on top video hosting website YouTube, South Korean pop superstar PSY's new single "Gentleman" easily sets another record, as it hits more than 70 million views April 16. The phenomenal achievement is very welcome news for the 35-year-old entertainer, who is sure to be relieved to know that his follow-up to his first global hit "Gangnam Style" also became an instant success, proving that he's no "one-hit wonder," AceShowbiz said.

With already a whopping 18.9 million views on its debut alone last April 13, PSY's "Gentleman" broke existing records for most views for a video in its first day on YouTube, in less than 24 hours from the moment it first premiered on the site. It scored 8.3 million views more than the Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj collaboration "Beauty and a Beat", which got 10.6 million views on October 13, 2012.

"51million views in 40hours!! My God~!!!" PSY exclaimed on his Twitter account, but he also knows his new hit still has a long way to go before it can even match the ground-breaking success of "Gangnam Style", the first ever YouTube video to reach a billion views. It currently stands at an astonishing 1.5 billion views and holds the record for being the most watched video in the history of the video hosting site.

PSY's new video shows him in his trademark look, wearing a pair of shades and a bright-colored suit as he dances in and around Seoul. It has a fascinating storyline that most likely has added to the intense interest for his new clip, which has PSY playing practical jokes on his hapless victims and pulling off a few naughty pranks before he finally meets his match.
