Venice Doge's Palace to host Edouard Manet exhibition April 24, 2013 - 15:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Edouard Manet's seductive 1863 painting "Olympia" is leaving France for the first time since 1890 to share a room with Titian's 1538 "Venus of Urbino," The Wall Street Journal said. It is just one of the revealing juxtapositions in Palazzo Ducale's "Manet: Return to Venice" exhibitions which sidelines the common interpretation of Manet's Spanish influences and instead looks to trace a new lineage in the French painter's inspiration: to the Venetian masters of the 16th century. A special collaboration with the Musée d'Orsay, the exhibition brings together 80 works by Manet and his artistic predecessors, including Guardi, Lotto, Longhi and Carpaccio, who the artist first admired during trips to Italy in 1853 and 1857. Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia will host the exhibition to launch Wednesday, April 24 through August 18.
