Te Papa Museum to feature Warhol: Immortal exhibition

PanARMENIAN.Net - In partnership with The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Te Papa is presenting Warhol: Immortal an exhibition of the lifework of Andy Warhol in the Visa Platinum Gallery due June1- August 25, culture media report.

Andy Warhol (1928–87) was a founder of pop art and one of the 20th century’s most defining artists. He blurred the boundaries between the artificial and the real, the commercial and the cultural, the noteworthy and the trite. Warhol: Immortal celebrates his enduring influence.

The exclusive exhibition focuses on Andy Warhol’s obsession with people throughout his career from early drawings through to some of the last works he ever made. It documents the development of Andy Warhol’s personal image through a selection of self-portraits.

The collection includes portraits of friends, celebrities, socialites, politicians, and rock stars across multiple media – paintings, MTV videos, experimental films, screen prints, drawings and magazine covers. The exhibition also features his work as a commercial artist, the installation Silver Clouds created in 1966 and a selection of black and white film portraits or screen tests created in the mid-sixties.
