LG to roll out new Optimus G hardware in May

PanARMENIAN.Net - LG will unveil a new Optimus handset this month, widely believed to be the flagship Optimus G2, Digital Spy said.

The South Korean firm has distributed media invites to an event scheduled for May 30, where the new smartphone will be formally announced.

The press invitation is adorned with a side-on image of a slimline handset with a protruding camera and an array of colours bursting from the screen, suggesting that the device will feature cutting-edge display technology.

LG is yet to release a flagship Optimus handset in Britain, but the Korean firm's head of mobile Won Kim has revealed ambitions to challenge the market leaders in the territory.

The current LG Optimus, which runs Android 4.1.2 and packs a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, is available only in South Korea, Japan, Canada and the US.

Previous reports suggest that the Optimus G2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor and feature a 1794 x 1080 pixel display.
