“Saturday Night Live” star Bill Hader to headline “Lawless” indie comedy

PanARMENIAN.Net - Saturday Night Live star Bill Hader is in talks to star in Lawless, an indie comedy being produced by Mike White and David Bernad via their RipCord Productions, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, who wrote the Jim Carrey comedy Yes Man, are making their directorial debut on the comedy.

Paul and Mogel also wrote the script, which was at one point titled 20-Year Itch. (Lawless is a tentative title.) The story centers on a high school reunion committee chairman in Middle America, still searching for acceptance, who has to do whatever it takes to get the most popular guy from high school to show up to their 20th reunion. Unfortunately, that guy is now an actor in commercials, so the committee chairman flies to L.A. and finds himself in the arcane world of celebrities.

A summer shoot in Atlanta is being eyed.

RipCord is behind Magic Magic, which stars Juno Temple, Michael Cera and Emily Browning and will premiere at Cannes.

Hader, when not working on SNL, does make the occasional film appearance. He had a supporting role in the Simon Pegg-Jason Bateman comedy Paul and a cameo in Men in Black 3, for example. Itch, however, will be a rare opportunity for him to topline a project. Hader can next be heard as a voice in DWA's Turbo.
