Armenian Deputy PM meets UN Resident Coordinator![]() May 24, 2013 - 19:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan met on May 24 with UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for Armenia Bradley Busetto. Vice Prime Minister congratulated Mr. Busetto on the appointment, noting UNDP programs in line with RA government priorities. The joint programs implemented in support of UN Yerevan Office were discussed, with Deputy Prime Minister Gevorgyan briefing the UN Resident Coordinator on the reforms to be implemented in the local government institutions. He further hailed the cooperation with UNICEF, UNIDO, UN Refugee Agency, UNFPA and other UN agencies, stressing the importance of collaboration in the elimination of gender inequalities, fight against trafficking and other spheres. Mr. Busetto, in turn, voiced readiness to foster the implementation of joint programs, attaching special importance to decentralization policy programs. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan.
