Apple CEO: we have several more game changers

PanARMENIAN.Net - Has Apple lost its cool? “Absolutely not,” says CEO Tim Cook. All Things Digital’s Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg interviewed the CEO as a kickoff to their annual D11 conference being held in Southern California, Mashable reported.

When asked if the company was in trouble, and if it's started to loose its cool, Cook responded with a resounding no, going on to say that satisfaction ratings for the company are currently off the charts, as are usage of Apple products.

Cook says that Apple is a product company and that over the past year it has come out with an unprecedented number of new — and well-received — products such as the iPhone 5, new iPods, and new Macs.

Cooks says that Apple’s “North Star” is always making the best products available, and while Apple stock has taken a bit of a dive in recent months its “not unprecedented.” Going on to say “the beauty of being around for a while is you see many cycles.”

Cook says as a company Apple needs to focus on products, and that “we have some incredible plans that we’ve been working on for a while…I think we have several more game changers in us.”

When asked on his thoughts about Google Glass, Cook said that he seen some positives in the product, and thinks that wearables are “incredibly interesting.”

So far, Cook says that nothing has stood out in the wearable space that he thinks would encourage someone who doesn’t already wear a watch (or glasses for that matter) to wear them, and that there’s lot of room for growth in the space.

“It’s an area that’s ripe for exploration,” says Cook. “To convince people they have to wear something, it has to be incredible.”

Cook says that the company’s goal is to always make the best products. While in some cases – such as tablets — that means it makes the most, in others, such as smartphones, it does not.

Cook says that while there are more Android phones in the market than there are iPhones, I many cases those phones are actually what many of us would consider feature phones rather than smartphones, and are being used as such.

While Cook declined to comment on future products, he did say that he would be rolling out the future of iOS and OSX during Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC, in two weeks. Tim Cook is expected to kick that event off with a keynote on June 10.
