PanARMENIAN.Net - "The Sopranos" is dubbed the best written TV series of all time by The Writer Guild of America East and West. The HBO drama, which debuted in 1999, tops the list of 101 Best Written TV Series ever which is sponsored by TV Guide magazine, AceShowbiz said.

" 'The Sopranos' received the most votes, and no show has been more responsible for TV's storytelling renaissance," the Guild explains, "in which writers use character both as engines for commenting on the contemporary world and for teasing out the ways in which action reflects psychology in the troubled inner lives of real people."

Taking the second place is Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld-created sitcom "Seinfeld", followed by Rod Serling's anthology series "The Twilight Zone", CBS' hit 1970s sictom "All in the Family" and FOX's sitcom "M*A*S*H". Rounding up the top ten are "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "Mad Men", "Cheers", "The Wire" and "The West Wing". "The Simpsons", "Breaking Bad" and the much-talked-about revived comedy "Arrested Development" also make it into the list.

"At their core, all of these wonderful series began with the words of the writers who created them and were sustained by the writers who joined their staffs or worked on individual episodes," says WGAW president Chris Keyser and WGAE president Michael Winship in a joint statement. "This list is not only a tribute to great TV, it is a dedication to all writers who devote their hearts and minds to advancing their craft."
