Dell unveils Haswell-powered business laptopJune 10, 2013 - 19:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Dell has announced a new laptop line powered by Intel's next-generation Haswell processor aimed at business users, Digital Spy said. The Latitude E6540 is touted as one of the most secure PCs ever made, offering government agency-level data encryption and authentication. The machine also features malware protection via a FIPS 201-certified smart card and fingerprint recognition technology. A FIPS 140-2 certified Trusted Platform Module is used to store user data on a separate chip accessed through Dell's ControlVault software, rather than the hard disk. The new Latitude PCs come with a choice of 1920x1080 or 1366x768 pixel-resolution displays, with Haswell Core i7-4800MQ or Core i7-4900MQ models available at different price points. All models comes with Intel's Integrated HD Graphics 4600 built in, with the laptop's graphics card capabilities fully upgradeable. Dell is yet to announce pricing for the Latitude E6540 line, but the machines are believed to cost in the region of $1,800 (£1,158).
