Helena Bonham Carter to play fairy godmother in Disney’s “Cinderella”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Helena Bonham Carter has just scored a fairytale role, according to TheWrap.

The "Les Miserables" actress has been cast in Disney's upcoming live-action version of "Cinderella," playing the fairy godmother, Disney said.

Bonham Carter joins a cast that includes "Wrath of the Titans" actress Lily James in the title role, Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother and "Game of Thrones" star Richard Madden as the Prince.

Kenneth Branagh is directing the project, which evolved from a pitch that Disney bought from "The Devil Wears Prada" writer Aline Brosh McKenna.

Alli Shearmur and Simon Kinberg are producing.

Disney bought the pitch for the big-screen take on the classic folk tale from writer Aline Brosh McKenna, whose credits include "The Devil Wears Prada," in 2010.

Bonham Carter also stars as Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming BBC biopic "Burton and Taylor," alongside "The Wire" actor Dominic West.
