Apple to release iPad 5 in September, report saysJuly 9, 2013 - 12:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A new report has suggested that Apple will release the iPad 5 in September, Digital Spy said. Sources told Digitimes that an iPad Mini 2 is also in the works but is likely to be available later than the iPad 5. It is claimed that the fifth-generation 9.7-inch iPad will have a slimmed-down bezel design which will provide more screen space. Battery life will allegedly improve, and the device will drop from two LED tubes to one. Sources within the upstream supply chain have indicated that the device is currently in pilot production, and they expect Apple to give shipment estimates at the end of July or early August. Meanwhile, it is alleged that Apple is still undecided about some aspects of the iPad Mini 2. It could introduce a Retina display, while Apple is thought to be keen for a bezel-less design. The report suggests that undecided aspects of the second-generation iPad Mini would mean a later launch at the end of the year. Digitimes previously reported that the iPad 5 would be launched in September, as well as indicating that the device would be 33% lighter. However, other sources have ruled out the date, suggesting it will be available later in December after the iPhone 5S.
