FOX orders "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" pilotJuly 10, 2013 - 12:56 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Another team of superheroes may be heading for the small screen. FOX has ordered a put pilot commitment for a television adaptation of Alan Moore's comic book series "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", AceShowbiz said. According to the show's logline, the drama is "about a group of Victorian-age literary characters, including Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, who team up to fight a common enemy." Michael Green ("Everwood", "Smallville" and "Heroes") will write and executive produce the pilot. Neither Moore nor Kevin O'Neill, the comic books illustrator, will be involved in this project. "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" was first published in 1999. It was turned into a feature film starring Sean Connery as Allan Quatermain in 2003. It was intended to begin a franchise, but the plan was scrapped after the film received lukewarm response on box office and negative reviews. Moore also disliked the movie. Should FOX move forward with "League", it will join another superhero ensemble series, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", which has been set to premiere on ABC this fall.
