Les Miserables star Samantha Barks joins Universal’s Dracula

PanARMENIAN.Net - Samantha Barks, who starred as Eponine in Les Miserables, Icelandic star Thor Kristjansson and Game of Thrones actor Art Parkinson have joined the cast of Universal’s Dracula. Boardwalk Empire actor Charlie Cox is also boarding the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Luke Evans is starring as the most famous of vampires in an origin story that sees a Transylvanian prince risk eternal damnation in order to save his wife and son from a Turkish horde.

Barks will play a figure in Eastern European folk tales known as a Baba Yaga, a beautiful young woman who turns into a savage witch.

Kristjansson will play Bright Eyes, an Eastern European taken as a slave as a young boy and now a vicious assassin in the Ottoman Army.

Parkinson will play Dracula’s son, named Ingeras.

Dominic Cooper and Sarah Gadon are already cast in the production, which will be directed by Gary Shore and is eyeing an August start in Belfast. The movie has an August 8, 2014 release date.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the script while Michael De Luca produces. Alissa Phillips is executive producing.

Vp of production Anikah McLaren and creative exec Jay Polidoro are overseeing the project for Universal.

Barks was a singer who made her film debut with Les Miserables, winning several awards for her breakout performance. She is repped by WME, Luber Roklin Entertainment and UK’s United Agents.

Kristjansson most recently starred in Black’s Game, which is the largest grossing film in Iceland and recorded the third largest opening in Iceland’s history. It is directed by Nicolas Winding-Refn’s protégé Oskar Thor Axelsson. Kristjansson is repped by CAA and Michael Lazo of Untitled Entertainment.

Parkinson plays Rickon, the youngest Stark child in Game of Thrones, HBO’s acclaimed hit show. He is repped by Gersh and Bernie Morrison with Actors First Agency.

Cox is repped by WME and United Agents.
