Lady GaGa unveils "Applause" music video (video)

Lady GaGa unveils

PanARMENIAN.Net - Lady GaGa has dropped the visuals for "Applause", her newest single which she rush-released due to a leak. The Inez & Vinoodh-directed clip was premiered on "Good Morning America" on Monday, August 19. Donning a white dress, GaGa appeared on the show to introduce the video and participate in her first television interview in months, AceShowbiz said.

Mostly filmed in black and white, the video gives several looks at GaGa dressing up as a skeleton, writhing on her bed in black lingerie and transforming into a swan. She is also seen dancing in several racy ensembles, including a black bra that resembles two cupping hands and a clam shell bra which she wears as she poses like Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus".

GaGa recently took to Twitter to explain the concept of the music video. She described it as "a music video where black and white and color battle in a bid for your Applause." She added, "It's inspired by the entertainers' passion for shapeshifting. Would you do 'anything' for the Applause? Iconography in motion, as magic."

"She'll do anything in this video to make her audience happy and give them inspiration," Inez van Lamsweerde, one half of Inez & Vinoodh, told MTV of GaGa's new music video. She said that she and Vinoodh were inspired by silent movies and early horror films. "We wanted to bring it back to a very basic element," she added.

"There were all these kinds of, let's say, tricks in there, but then the big idea was really to have her symbolize this moment of her hip breaking. That's why she's sort of holding up her right leg as a trophy and this idea that no matter what it takes, she'll get back onstage," she continued.

In another GaGa news, it has been confirmed that the 27-year-old pop singer will open this year's MTV Video Music Awards. At the event, which is set to be held at Brooklyn's Barclay Center on August 25, GaGa will deliver the first live performance of "Applause".
