The South Korean manufacturer has commenced mass production on the displays and is planning to launch a handset featuring the technology next year. LG's flexible screens curve from top to bottom, and are said to be bendable and unbreakable. "The new display is vertically concave from top to bottom with a radius of 700mm [28in], opening up a world of design innovations in the smartphone market," said the phone maker in a statement. "What's more, it is also the world's lightest, weighing a mere 7.2g even with a six-inch screen, the largest among current smartphone OLED displays." Samsung is also experimenting with flexible display technology, and is rumoured to be working on a bendable version of its Galaxy Note 3 smartphone. LG recently announced that it is mass producing flexible smartphone batteries that could be used in curved smartphones.
