PanARMENIAN.Net - During the product event kicked off by Apple’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook, the company unveiled updated MacBook Pro models with retina displays. The new laptops sport the latest Intel processors based on the Haswell architecture. Both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros got updated, TechCrunch reports.
The 13-inch model is lighter (under 3.5 lbs), slimmer (.71 inch thick) and has a bigger 9-hour battery. It has integrated graphics and Thunderbolt 2. The flash-based storage is faster and it comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The New 13-inch model starts at $1,299 instead of $1,499.
The 15-inch model comes with a quad core processor, Iris Pro graphics. There are separate models with discrete graphics. It now sells for $1,999 instead of $2,199, TechCrunch says.
According to Engadget, Apple also said that over 64% of compatible devices are already running iOS 7, making it by far the company's most successful mobile operating system. In all, iOS 7 was downloaded over 200 million times in the first five days after it was released.
Apple also reported paying developers over $13 billion to date, thanks to the over 1 million apps available in the App Store, which have hit over 60 billion cumulative downloads. (Apple still has the edge over Android; there are about 900,000 apps available in the Google Play store.)
Some other notable milestones: More than 20 million people have checked out iTunes Radio, listening to over a billion songs -- in the U.S. alone; Over 9 million iPhones were sold in one weekend after the 5c and 5s launched, making it the biggest iPhone launch in history.
