ArmenTel to be fined AMD 20 million over Orange Armenia complaint

PanARMENIAN.Net - State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) ruled to fine ArmenTel telecommunications company AMD 20 million following competitor Orange Armenia’s complaint.

Orange Armenia filed a complaint with the antimonopoly body, accusing ArmenTel of violating its intellectual property rights in repeating its tariff plan ‘Simple’ registered back in 2011.

In September, ArmenTel announced a promo action for its ‘Simpler than Simple’ tariff plan envisaging local calls for AMD 15,90 per minute.

Orange Armenia tariff plan offers local calls for AMD 20 per minute.

Also, Orange Armenia accuses ArmenTel of misleading advertising, which harms the image of its competitors.

As it transpired, ArmenTel was unable to defend its interests as no representatives of the company were invited to the SCPEC meeting.
