VivaCell-MTS promotes engineering education in schoolsNovember 21, 2013 - 15:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Yerevan Expo center of the Yerevan Research Institute for Mathematical Machines hosted a conference on “The Perspectives of Education in the Sphere of Engineering in the Schools of Armenia”. The major aim of the conference was to share the currently implemented projects and to bring together all those interested in the engineering education in the schools of Armenia. “Meetings like this are necessary to use the intellectual potential for Armenia to be a technology-oriented country. The development of robotics will particularly help us to that end, and will become one of the cornerstones of strengthening our country’s competitiveness,” said Karen Vardanyan, the Executive Director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises. “Knowledge gained during the school years remains for a lifetime. Our readiness to provide new quality to the educational programs has an important mission. It will increase the willingness to discover and to create something new among those who are engaged in the robotics. To achieve the goals we need to provide a change of generations in the field of engineering,” commented VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian. During the conference, the school concept for laboratory based on the contemporary methodology of IT education developed by the Nairi consortium was presented, followed by the contest of educational animation films and games. The conference also hosted presentation of the projects participating in the Robots in Everyday Life contest. During the event, robot-making sets were handed over to the heads of robotics groups in the framework of the Robotics begins from School project.
