The Beatles to receive Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Beatles has been announced as one of the artists who will be honored with the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award early next year. The legendary British band will receive the award at a special ceremony that's taking place on January 25, the night before the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, AceShowbiz said.

Other Lifetime Achievement Award recipients are electronic music band Kraftwerk, musical group The Isley Brothers, singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson, Zydecoartist Clifton Chenier, Mexican singer Armando Manzanero, and violinist Maud Powell. They join previous honorees that include Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton and Barbra Streisand.

"It is a great privilege to recognize such an exceptional group of honorees and celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to the recording industry," Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy, said in a statement.

"This astoundingly unique and gifted group have created some of the most distinguished and influential work in our musical history. Their legacies are timeless and legendary, and their creativity will continue to influence and inspire future generations," he added.

Additionally, rock photographer Jim Marshall, legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone, and FAME Studios owner Rick Hall, will all receive the Recording Academy's Trustees award. Emile Berliner, the inventor of the gramophone, will posthumously receive the Technical Grammy Award.
