The film, the director's follow-up to 2012's Oscar-nominated Moonrise Kingdom, revolves around the "theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune," according to the synopsis. Among others, hints of the personalities of Jeff Goldblum's Deputy Kovacs, Tilda Swinton's Madame D., Harvey Keitel's apparent inmate Ludwig, Mathieu Amalric's stoic Serge X., Edward Norton's mustachioed Inspector Henkels and Willem Dafoe's menacing-looking J.G.
