Aaron Eckhart, Miles Teller to headline “Bleed for This” boxing bio

PanARMENIAN.Net - In a pre-Berlin move, Aaron Eckhart and Miles Teller are headed for the boxing ring in “Bleed for This”, a boxing biopic on Vinnie Pazienza with Martin Scorsese exec producing, Variety said.

Synchronicity Entertainment is handling international sales at this week’s European Film Market. CAA, which packaged, and WME are handling domestic sales.

Ben Younger (“Boiler Room”) is directing from his own script. Younger is also producing with Bruce Cohen, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Chad Verdi and Noah Kraft.

Variety reported in 2010 that Verdi and Kraft were developing the project with “Hoosiers” writer Angelo Pizzo.

Teller will portray the boxer, who broke his neck in three places in a traffic accident in 1991 while he was at the peak of his career. Against doctors’ orders, Paz returned to the gym with his metal halo still on, began working out and eventually won three more titles and went on to retire with a 50-10 record.

Eckhart will play Pazienza’s trainer, Kevin Rooney.

The castings were first reported by THR.com.
