Oscar-nommed “American Hustle” passes $200 mln at box office

PanARMENIAN.Net - Columbia Pictures and Annapurna Pictures’ “American Hustle” has surpassed $200 million at the worldwide box office, TheWrap said.

The announcement was made Thursday by Jeff Blake, chairman, worldwide marketing and distribution for Sony Pictures.

The Atlas Entertainment Production starring Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, and Jennifer Lawrence, has grossed $138.7 million in North America, setting a career high for director David O. Russell at the domestic box office, surpassing the $132.1 million take of “Silver Linings Playbook.”

“American Hustle” has has grossed $64 million to date in overseas, and is yet to open in Germany, Russia and Korea. It’s production budget was $40 million.

“American Hustle” received 10 Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and all four acting categories.
