Bravo greenlights

PanARMENIAN.Net - Bravo has officially greenlit its first scripted series. The cable channel has ordered 13 episodes of Marti Noxon's "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce", which is based on best-selling series "Girlfriends' Guide" by Vicki Iovine, AceShowbiz said.

The drama centers on Abby, who will be portrayed by "House M.D." alumna Lisa Edelstein, a self-help book author in Los Angeles who hides the fact that she's separated from her husband. Starting her life over again as a single woman in her 40s, she finds that advice from divorced friends leads to startling new adventures.

"'Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce' offers a fresh take on women tackling life after divorce with the help of their girlfriends," said Andrew Wang, vp scripted development and production at Bravo. "For our first scripted show, we wanted something that was sophisticated, funny and honest. We're thrilled to have the talented Marti Noxon breaking this new ground with Bravo."

The show has also cast Janeane Garofalo ("Reality Bites") as divorced entertainment lawyer Lyla, Beau Garrett ("Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior") as recent divorcee and former model Phoebe, and "Private Practice" alum Paul Adelstein as Abby's husband. Carrie Fisher will make a cameo.

Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Glee") wrote the pilot and will executive produce "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce" along with Iovine, Dawn Olmstead, Meryl Poster and Adam Brooks, who directed the pilot. The drama series is set for a 2015 premiere.
