Sia partners with Baz Luhrmann for “Strictly Ballroom” musical

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sia has written songs for the upcoming Strictly Ballroom musical, Digital Spy said.

Director Baz Luhrmann and co-writer Craig Pearce have announced the composers for the stage project, based on the former's 1992 movie.

Grammy-winning songwriters and Oscar nominees Diane Warren and David Foster have contributed songs for the show too.

The Great Gatsby composer Elliott Wheeler and singer-songwriter Eddie Perfect have also been enlisted by Luhrmann.

As with the original film, the musical will follow a ballroom dancer who partners with an untrained amateur for a difficult routine in his quest for glory.

The musical will also include songs associated with the film, including 'Love Is in the Air', 'Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps' and 'Time After Time'.

Luhrmann's wife and Oscar winner Catherine Martin will work on the set and costume designs.

Strictly Ballroom: The Musical will start preview performances on March 25 at Sydney's Lyric Theatre, before opening on April 12.
