Samsung patents long-screen smartphone with widescreen ratioMarch 14, 2014 - 12:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung has filed a patent for a long-screen smartphone with a 21:9 aspect ratio, Digital Spy reveals. The device, which features the same display ratio as a widescreen TV set, is thought to be designed with movie fanatics in mind. The handset also features a large rear-facing camera and super-sized speaker grilles, but details of its screen resolution and internals were not listed. LG previously released a smartphone with a similar ratio in 2009, but the LG Chocolate BL40 failed to gain traction, despite being generally well-received. Samsung launched the curved-screen Galaxy Round handset in Asia last year, and is also experimenting with malleable devices that fold in on themselves to take on new shapes. The firm has pledged to release fully flexible devices by 2015. Photo: Samsung Related links: Top stories Yerevan will host the 2024 edition of the World Congress On Information Technology (WCIT).
