French auteur Rebecca Zlotowski to preside Cannes Critics’ Week juryApril 14, 2014 - 18:57 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Rebecca Zlotowski, a leading light of France’s young generation of auteurs, has been tapped to preside the Discovery and Visionary juries of Cannes’ Critics’ Week, Variety reported. Zlotowski, who graduated from the prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure, made her feature debut with “Dear Prudence,” which world premiered at Critics’ Week in 2010, won the Louis Delluc Prize for best first film and earned its leading actress Lea Seydoux a Cesar nom for newcomer. Zlotowski’s sophomore feature, “Grand Central,” a romance set in a nuclear plant toplining Seydoux and Tahar Rahim, opened in Un Certain Regard last year. The Discovery award, backed by Sony Cinealta, will go to the 10 short films. Its jury will comprise Tine Fischer, director of the Copenhagen International Documentary Festival, Abi Sakamoto, head of cinema at Japan’s French Institute, Benny Drechsel, producer at Germany’s Rohfilm and Argentine helmer Pablo Giorgelli. Meanwhile, the Visionary award, backed by French pubcaster France 4, will be given to one of the seven features playing in competition. Its jury will made up of four young critics: Louise Riousse (“Cinematraque, Binge”), Sergio Huidobro (“Corre Camara”), Andrei Rus (Film Menu Magazine) and Guido Segal (Buendiario). As previously announced, Andrea Arnold will preside over the competition jury. Critics’ Week’s lineup will be announced on April 21.
