Callie Kloves to adapt “Seeker” sci-fi fantasy novel for SonyApril 23, 2014 - 14:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Callie Kloves, the up-and-coming writer who is also the daughter of Harry Potter scribe Steve Kloves, has been tapped to adapt Seeker, Sony's big-screen take on the by Arwen Elys Dayton novel, The Hollywood Reporter said. Mark Gordon is producing the translation of the novel, which doesn't hit shelves until 2015. It will be the first of a trilogy. The story combines sci-fi and fantasy elements to tell the story of a young girl named Quin Kincaid who, according to the studio, "has been put through years of brutal training for what she thinks is the noble purpose of becoming a revered 'Seeker.' Only when it's too late does she discover she will be using her newfound knowledge and training to become an assassin." The events take the girl around the globe, from a remote estate in Scotland to a bustling, futuristic Hong Kong. Hannah Minghella will oversee the production for the studio with Rachel O'Connor and Eric Fineman. Michele Wolkoff, head of film at Mark Gordon Co., will oversee for the shingle. Seeker is Kloves' second high-profile writing gig. She recently wrote the script for The Jungle Book, Warner Bros.' take on the Rudyard Kipling stories set to be directed by Andy Serkis.
