Steve Carell in “Alexander and the Very Bad Day” comedy trailer (video) May 12, 2014 - 11:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner and their brood face off with a wild kangaroo, an alligator and a whole lot of fire in the first trailer for family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. The upcoming film follows angst-filled Alexander (Ed Oxenbould), whose life in middle school isn't as exciting as he would like it to be. Making matters worse, his family members seem indifferent to his plight. Alexander's family members are facing a big day, as his dad (Carell) has a pivotal job interview, while his older brother is taking his driver's license test. But as you might expect based on the film's title, things don't quite go as planned. And yes, multiple things catch on fire, including Carell's pirate-style shirt. "I think you just gotta have the bad days, so you can love the good days even more," Alexander tells his weary family. "Trust me, I would know." Bella Thorne, Megan Mullally, Jennifer Coolidge and Donald Glover co-star. The film was directed by Miguel Arteta, whose previous projects include Cedar Rapids and Youth in Revolt. The script was written by Rob Lieber and The Kids Are All Right writer-director Lisa Cholodenko, based on the 1972 children's book of the same name by Judith Viorst.
