Samsung tops smartwatch market with 500,000 units sold

PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung is currently leading the way in smartwatch sales, according to new data, Digital Spy reported.

A report by Strategy Analytics claims that the South Korean electronic giant sold just under half a million devices in the first quarter of 2014.

With an estimated 700,000 units sold across the whole smartwatch sector, Samsung holds a 71% majority.

The latest figures do not take into account the company's more recent devices, Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit, which were launched in April.

However, the report does not take the 30% return rate of the original Galaxy Gear into consideration.
