Fox unveils 1st footage from Ridley Scott's "Exodus" at CineEurope

Fox unveils 1st footage from Ridley Scott's

PanARMENIAN.Net - Fox pulled out all the stops at its annual CineEurope presentation on Tuesday, June 17 revealing the first footage from Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings, starring Christian Bale as Moses. In addition to screening the opening reel of the biblical epic, the studio provided foreign theater owners with an early look at the movie's upcoming trailer, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Ben Stiller also took the stage during the two-hour event to introduce extended footage from his upcoming Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, the long-awaited third installment in director Shawn Levy's family franchise. Both Secret of the Tomb and Exodus roll out around the world in December.

He wasn't the only A-list actor Fox flew in. Colin Firth touted his upcoming Matthew Vaughn genre spy film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, alongside his co-star, newcomer Taron Egerton. In preparing for the role, Firth said he was "tortured" by a squad of nine men who came to his house for "six months and made me do things that were not natural to me," including squats and lunges. "It took them three months to get me to do a somersault," he added.

Filmmaker Jorge R. Gutierrez showed up as well to introduce footage from his October animated film Book of Life, produced by Guillermo del Toro.

Stiller is a familiar face at CineEurope, where he appeared last year to promote Fox's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. He had plenty of jokes for the audience this time out, including thanking Scott for making a movie about Moses, "the man who led the Jews out of Egypt and into the movie industry." And he said working with Ben Kingsley on Secret of the Tomb presented numerous complications. "Every time someone shouted Sir Ben, we'd both turn around," he said.

Among other highlights, Fox co-presidents of worldwide theatrical marketing and distribution Paul Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus showed extended footage from Frankenstein, the classic tale told from assistant Igor's point of view, starring Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy as the doctor who creates the titular monster.

Jegeus and Hanneman brought a recorded message from Andy Serkis to introduce a specially created sequence of scenes from Dawn Of The Planet of the Apes, as well as messages from director Paul Feig and star Melissa McCarthy from the set of Spy, their upcoming comedy. CineEurope is operated by FilmExpo Group, which is owned by THR's parent company, Guggenheim Partners. The annual convention of international exhibitors runs June 16-19 in Barcelona.
