Facebook suffers global outage

PanARMENIAN.Net - Facebook appeared to be a suffering a major international outage on June 19 morning, with the site going unavailable in multiple regions around the world, and Facebook social plug-ins on other websites also acting up.

The Facebook.com was unavailable in European locations. It also appeared to be offline in parts of Asia, including India. U.S. Twitter users are tweeting about the site being down for them as well. TechCrunch says.

This is the first time Facebook has suffered a widespread outage which has lasted for more than a few minutes, the Guardian notes.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and chief executive was famously quoted as saying that the social network would never go down, it would never crash.

"We roughly know who they are. If we can take them out of the equation then the rest will fall down," Troels Oerting said.
Facebook, like Twitter and YouTube, is inaccessible in Iran on the grounds that the sites undermine Islamic values.
The firm said it brought the case in an effort to force the government to be more transparent about personal data requests.
The Google messenger is in early stages of development and is likely to be launched in 2015, sources aware of the plans said.
