Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s “Birdman” to close New York Film Fest

PanARMENIAN.Net - Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Birdman or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance” has been selected as the closing night title for 52nd New York Film Festival on Oct. 12, Variety reported.

The black comedy stars Michael Keaton, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts.

Inarritu has previously screened “Amores Perros” and “21 Grams: at the festival.

“Birdman” is the opening night film of the Venice Film Festival on Aug. 27. The Fox Searchlight and New Regency release will open in the U.S. on Oct. 17.

Keaton plays a one-time action hero who is staging his own adaptation of Raymond Carver’s “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” as he copes with a resentful daughter (Stone), a scene-hogging narcissist (Norton), a vulnerable actress (Watts) and an unhinged girlfriend (Riseborough).

Variety first reported that David Fiincher’s “Gone Girl” will be the opening night title at the New York Festival on Sept. 26 and that Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Inherent Vice” will have its world premiere on Oct. 4 at the festival.
